Dear Santa,

I hope this letter finds you and Mrs. Santa in good spirits and with a jolly ho-ho-ho despite a flood of letters with all the last-minute toy requests. As a teacher, I perfectly understand the value of effective communication, so I’ll get straight to the point – I’ve been a good English teacher this year and I hope you could spread some holiday cheer my way.

Firstly, can we talk about the photocopier situation? It’s like a mythical beast that can be caught only when the stars align and the moon is in the seventh house. So, if you could sprinkle some magic dust over this mysterious apparatus to make it work flawlessly and grant me an easy access to it without having to stand in a queue of my colleagues since dawn, consider this my dream gift. Imagine a photocopier that doesn’t jam or inscrutably run out of toner the moment you need those handouts most – that is a Christmas gift that can be compared to divine intervention!

Moving on to the subject of energy, what about an endless source of coffee? I’m convinced that herding wild adolescents who are determined to defy the laws of grammar is totally rewarding. However, the energy needed to keep up with their enthusiasm can power up a small city. So, how about an unlimited source of coffee beans? Bonus points if the coffee can also correct spelling errors in essays.

Well, Santa, I adore my students, but I sometimes feel like I miss out on life outside school. I’m afraid that one day I’ll wake up to realise that my own kids have grown up and moved out and I haven’t been present at any of their lives’ milestone events except for their birth. So, if you are feeling particularly generous this year, how about adding extra few hours to my day to spend quality moments with my loved ones or work on my own creative projects? I might even learn to play the ukulele or finally take my son to the zoo!

Of course, Santa, I understand that these requests may seem a bit demanding, but if anyone can make the impossible possible, it would be the man who carries countless presents in a single sleigh driven by a team of flying reindeer. In return I’ve enlisted my students to create some festive decorations for the season. They are rather creative, and I’m sure you’ll appreciate their efforts.

Thank you for taking time to read my letter. I promise to leave some extra biscuits and a cup of hot cocoa for you on Christmas Eve.

Yours,

Anna
