1) Organization moment.

a) Greeting: First of all, I`d like to greet you at our public lesson today. Good afternoon, dear guests and dear pupils! I`m very delighted to see you. You are allowed to take your seats, please. Are you ready to start our public lesson?

b) Questions about the day:

You were divided into both teams. Your points today will become such Christmas trees. Every pupil will get points for any achievement. What date was yesterday? I`m interested if you know the event which all European countries celebrated yesterday? Absolutely correct, it is Christmas. As far as you know Christmas is greatly celebrated in Europe because it is a main holiday for every European. So our lesson today is devoted to traditional Christmas dishes in different countries. And now we are going to make around-the-world journey in order to present you the information about traditional Christmas dishes of different countries. Are you ready to start our journey? Pay attention to the screen, listen to me and be ready to answer the questions please.

1. Great Britain.

Who knows any traditional Christmas dish in Great Britain ?

A Christmas pudding is a dessert which is traditionally served on Christmas day in England. It is round and very dark brown. A Christmas pudding (also known as plum pudding) is a steamed pudding containing dried fruits, sugar, treacle, nuts and spices.

Can your guess any ingredient of a Christmas pudding? (flour, mixed spices, animal suet, milk, eggs, brown sugar, bread crowns, raisins, currants, orange peel, lemon peel, and brandy).

 

2. Germany

Do yo know any German Christmas dish?

I would like you to introduce you German Christmas dishes.

Stollen is a fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar and often containing marzipan. It is a traditional German Christmas bread.

3. France

What is the traditional Christmas dish in France?

 

Now I will tell you about Bûche de Noël .

Bûche de Noël is the French name for a Christmas cake shaped like a log. It is a chocolate cake rolled with chocolate whipped cream and decorated with confectioners' sugar to resemble snow on a yule log. It doesn't just look beautiful — it tastes wonderful, too!

4. Italy

And now have you got any ideas what the Italian Christmas dish is.

Pandoro is Italian sweet bread .It has an eight-pointed shape.It is often decorated with vanilla, which is said to resemble the snowy peaks of the Alps during Christmas.

New Year is more important holiday than Christmas in Russia. There is a great variety of New Year and Christmas dishes in Russia. What are traditional New Year dishes in Russia?

Olivier Salad is also known as Russian salad and by many other names in other countries . It is a classic dish served cold.

What are your favourite dishes?

Now some pupils will introduce us recipes of their favourite New Year dishes. Furthermore, the pupils cooked these dishes themselves and you will have an opportunity to taste them. Pay attention to their recipes, please. Such brilliant projects! Thank you!
